Development of a child-friendly wayfinding system for an animal park
Jessica Künzie & Anton Blume
The petting zoo Tannenbusch has existed since 1960 and is home to 230 different native animals. It has a restaurant, an adventure playground and a kindergarden. The park mainly focuses on families with younger children. An analysis of the park’s wayfinding system showed it to be antiquated, heavily damaged and above all incomplete. Furthermore, the existing system does not cater for children without reading skills, although these are the main target group. Based on this analysis an information and wayfinding system, which focuses on children without excluding adults, was developed.
